Gordon Cloud uses the cost parameters you set on each vehicle to automatically calculate the cost of every route it completes. This article explains how the calculation works and what each input means.
Cost inputs
Each vehicle has five cost-related fields that you can configure when creating or editing a vehicle. For a full reference of all vehicle fields, see Vehicle data points.
Cost per hour: Driver salary, administration, and other time-based operating costs.
Cost per km: Fuel, energy, maintenance, tyres, and other distance-based costs.
Fixed monthly cost: Recurring monthly costs such as financing, insurance, tax, and depreciation.
Monthly operating hours: The expected number of hours the vehicle operates per month.
Currency: The currency used for all cost values on this vehicle.
How route cost is calculated
When a route is completed, Gordon Cloud calculates the total route cost by combining three components:
Time-based cost = Cost per hour × route duration
Distance-based cost = Cost per km × route distance
Fixed cost = (Fixed monthly cost ÷ Monthly operating hours) × route duration
Total route cost = Time-based cost + Distance-based cost + Fixed cost
The route duration and distance are based on the actual times and distances recorded during the route.
Viewing route cost breakdowns
You can see the cost breakdown for any individual route on the vehicle's Routes tab. Hover over a route's cost value to display a tooltip showing the time-based cost, distance-based cost, fixed cost, and total.

Example
A vehicle is configured with the following cost parameters:
Cost per hour: 294 SEK
Cost per km: 1.1 SEK
Fixed monthly cost: 10 299 SEK
Monthly operating hours: 155 h
A derived hourly cost is thereafter calculated based on the fixed monthly cost divided by monthly operating hours.
The vehicle completes a route with a duration of 2.4 hours and a distance of 247 km.
Time-based cost: 294 × 2.4 = 705.6 SEK
Distance-based cost: 1.1 × 247 = 271.7 SEK
Fixed cost: (10 299 ÷ 155) × 2.4 = 159.5 SEK
Total route cost: 1 136.8 SEK
